Alec Baldwin pleaded innocent to uncontrolled murder in connection with the deadly shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin was permitted to stroll complimentary as long as he doesn’t own a weapon, avoided alcohol and doesn’t talk to other witnesses of the shooting.
He is no longer needed as he waived his very first look.
Prosecutors dropped the guns improvement charge initially brought versus Baldwin, which would have offered the actor/producer a necessary 5 years in prison had he been founded guilty of the uncontrolled murder and guns improvement charges.
“In order to avoid further litigious distractions by Mr. Baldwin and his attorneys, the District Attorney and the special prosecutor have removed the firearm enhancement to the involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of Halyna Hutchins on the Rust film set,” Heather Brewer, representative the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office, stated in a declaration. “The prosecution’s priority is securing justice, not securing billable hours for big-city attorneys.”
Hutchins passed away on Oct. 21, 2021, after Baldwin fired a weapon on the set of “Rust” in New Mexico. Director Joel Souza was likewise hurt.
